How are live lobsters and lobster tails delivered?

All Greenhead Lobster products are shipped via UPS. Our products can be delivered in most areas Tuesday through Saturday. Saturday delivery is only available in certain areas. Please contact us to see if Saturday Delivery is available for your location.

Live lobsters will be shipped Next Day Air and expected to be delivered by 3 pm the next day. Lobster tails have the option for two day air or next day air, and in some cases may qualify for ground shipping. Lobster Tails are shipped with dry ice. If any of the dry ice is still in box do not touch with bare hands and dispose of properly. It is normal for dry ice to evaporate partially or completely while in transit.

How soon can I have lobsters or lobster tails delivered?

If you place your order before 12 pm EST Monday through Friday, we can get your order shipped that same day and delivered the next day by 3 pm.

Are there any shipping restrictions?

Greenhead Lobster does not ship to P.O. Boxes. Orders going to Alaska and Hawaii vary in availability for delivery so please contact us to see what your options are. Orders for Hawaii require a permit to be filled out and approved before shipping. UPS does not deliver on a number of holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas). Please contact us for more details.

What if no one is home when my package is delivered?

A Driver Release is put on all packages so they will be left at your door. If delivering to a multi-unit building, the driver may require a person to be present for delivery, so please plan accordingly. If this is a gift, please notify recipient and make sure they will be home to receive this gift. Greenhead Lobster does not take responsibility for spoiled product if they are not properly cared for once delivered. You can utilize the “Order Notes” section on the order form to share specific delivery instructions with us.

How do I best care for live lobsters?

If you will not be cooking your live lobsters up immediately, the best spot to store them is in a cool environment. You can learn more about how to care and store your live lobsters here.

How do I best care for lobster tails?

If you will not be cooking up your frozen lobster tails immediately, please place in your freezer as soon as possible. If you plan on using your tails immediately, take our of the box and follow our thawing and cooking directions here.

My order didn’t arrive on schedule, what should I do?

We want to sort out any issues with shipping and on-time deliveries as swiftly as possible. Please contact us (207-367-0950 or info@greenheadlobster.com) within 24 hours of your scheduled delivery so that we may resolve it quickly and appropriately. You are responsible for supplying the correct recipient address, and for someone to be present to receive upon delivery. If no one is available, you authorize UPS to release your package at the recipient’s doorstep.
